The Local vs. Outside Bill Cycle: How to Strengthen Your Town's Economy (A Beauty Mentor's View)
🌍 The Local vs. Outside Bill Cycle: How to Strengthen Your Town's Economy
By Priya | Your Beauty Mentor
Are we forgetting our
local businesses or avoiding them? There are some things in our daily lives that seem very
normal, but they are silently affecting our town's future. No one understands this yet. This isn't about blame or politics; it’s about a
cycle we are all stuck in.A True Story
I have a regular client who owns a dress shop and a
jewelry shop right here in town. But when it came to her daughter's wedding,
she proudly told me:
· 👗 Saree from Chennai (₹50,000)
· 💎 Jewelry from Madurai
· 🏨 Reception in Coimbatore
· 💄 Makeup Artist from Bangalore
I casually asked her, Is there
nothing in our own town? She replied, Akka, there is no design or collection here; it's
not trendy.
A few days later, that same client asked me to buy a
new high-end facial machine for my salon. I smiled and asked, If the town doesn't support
us, how can I afford to update? She was shocked. That is when I realized we
are in a Broken Loop.
🔄 The Broken Loop: The
Hidden Cycle
When we take our "Big Bills" to the city and
only leave our "Small Bills" in town, this is what happens:
·
Customer Mindset: Premium feel is only available outside
·
Business Mindset: No one is buying, so it's not worth updating.
The Irony:
·
A ₹2,000 haircut in Coimbatore is seen as "Worth it."
·
A ₹800 haircut in our town is seen as "Costly."
·
A ₹1 Lakh Bridal Makeup in Bangalore is "Status."
·
A ₹15,000 Bridal Makeup in our town is "Too much."
Even
if I get cheated, I'd rather it be by an outsider— this mindset is what we
need to change.
The Mentor's Logic: The Velocity of Money
"When you spend ₹1,000 in your local town, that money stays within the community to pay local staff and update local tools. This is called 'The Velocity of Money.' When that money stays local, it eventually comes back to benefit you. When it goes to a big city corporation, it leaves your community forever."
💡 The Solution (No Blaming , Awakening)
For the
Customer:
·
Give us a chance: Try local first.
· Give Feedback: Don't just leave. Tell us,
This is good / improve this. We need your
participation more than your blind support.
For the
Business Owner:
·
Small Updates: You don't need to change everything
overnight. Clear &
Continuous steps are enough.
·
Listen: Ask your customers what they see in the city
that they want here.
·
Show Up: Use social media to show your updates.
✨The Magic Loop: When Everyone
Wins
When we support local, the cycle reverses: Customer Support → Business Update →
Better Service → More Trust → Stronger Local Economy.
It is simple, but it is powerful. The 'Local Bill' is a
reflection of our collective choices. Every purchase is a vote for the kind of
community we want to live in.
Final Thought
The cycle starts and ends with us. Next time you need a
service, look local first. Give feedback, not just business.
